A massive undertaking completed successfully

Storage Unit Tag Sale

Lucky Rabbit Estate Sales
By: Paul J. Dunn

I’d like to thank everyone who patronized this incredible sale, especially those friends who are involved in the estate and tag sale industry. It was great to see you all again.

I also have to thank my staff for all the hard work they put into making this two day sale a great success. They all preformed marvelously under the circumstances.

This was not your normal tag sale by any means. This was a 5 bedroom Great Neck home stuffed into 3 storage rooms. We had to add 5 additional rooms to set it up properly. The task was daunting at first, but we persevered and got the job done. Like it says on our web site: “We are doers and our word means everything to us”

We sold 1000’s of items and had 100’s of customers shop over the two days. As always we made many new friends and we were happy to see that some old ones traveled so far to visit us. One gentleman drove all the way from Philadelphia. Happily he was able to purchase the item the item he came for.

A few of my competitors were offered this sale but they turned it down. Again I use the word “daunting” Yes it was a lot of hard work but there was an abundance of quality antiques and collectibles buried in the 100’s of boxes. The bottom line: Lucky Rabbit Estate Sales is not afraid of hard work!

One competitor did offer to take the sale. However the client researched the company and the owners name only to discover that they were not reputable. If you read my blog regularly you know I advise you to Google the company name and the principal owners. (Google us) You wouldn't want to hire a convicted criminal to sell your valuables would you? In addition I also recommend visiting any company’s sales before hiring them.

Last but not least I need to thank the wonderful staff at Storage America. They were very helpful and understanding of the client’s situation. We did have bump or two in the road but we were able to work out all problems as they presented themselves.

If Lucky Rabbit Estate Sales could make a complex sale like this successful, just imagine what we can do for you!

Our motto rings true!

BIGGEST TAG SALE OF THE WEEKEND LESS THAN 24 HOURS AWAY!

Finally Set Up!

By:
Paul J. Dunn

We completed the set up of this amazing tag sale today!
We literally have 1000’s of all kinds of interesting items. I couldn’t list everything but chances are we have what you’re looking for.

Once again I need to mention the challenge this particular sale was to set up. Very few, if any, of my competitors would have been able to perform this task in the usual professional manor that we have.

Lucky Rabbit Estate Sales is always up to any challenge and will never waiver in the face of adversity. Our reputation precedes us, Google us.

As you know Lucky Rabbit Estate Sales is a family run company and many people have asked if my wee Scottish mum would be working this sale. Sadly she is not feeling well and won’t be in attendance this time.  She does send her regards and well wishes to all.

We will have all our regular experienced staff on hand to answer questions, price you quickly and get you on your way.

It's going to be a great sale and I can’t wait to see all of you that support us time and time again. We truly value your patronage.

The Tag Sale of All Tag Sales

The Tag Sale of All Tag Sales
Lucky Rabbit Estate Sales
By:
Paul J. Dunn
I’m not kidding with the title of this entry!
If I were still attending sales as a dealer, I would make this the first sale I hit on Saturday morning. I’m sure Tom would agree with that statement.
Thanks to our unique advertising campaign we have generated interest from over a dozen states from the east coast to west coast. I personally have replied to 100’s of emails and questions. One gentleman claims he’s flying in from Texas just to attend this incredible sale.
Other companies rely on old email lists and outdated print media to attract people to sales. We don’t! We have developed our own proprietary method of promoting our sales. Our method reaches further than any other company out there today.
All of our employees are personally trained by us and are consummate professionals. If you’ve attended one of our sales then you know what I’m talking about. All of our wonderful staff will be in attendance on Saturday and Sunday, ready to price you out quickly and get you on your way.

I will be posting the address for the tag sale of all tag sales tomorrow.
See you all there this coming weekend: 7/21 & 7/22
9:00 am to 4:00 pm (both days)

As always I thank you all for coming back time and time again!

Choosing the right estate-tag sale company to handle your sale

By:
Paul J. Dunn

We know it’s not an easy time when it comes to choosing an estate sale company to liquidate your recently deceased loved ones possessions. I recently lost my father, so I know what’s involved in the process of grieving, making arrangements and settling the estate. Adding in the emotional factor made the task daunting, even for me as an estate sale professional.

Its unfortunate but a few unscrupulous companies will exploit you in this time of need. However, there are many exceptional companies in the market place today; of course Lucky Rabbit Estate Sales is one of them. Google us, our reputation precedes us.

I always suggest that prospective clients visit one of our tag or estate sales to see how a professional company operates. Our sales are always run in a courteous and efficient manner. We never forget that we are in the home of deceased or sick loved one. It’s about respect and decorum.

Other companies allow hordes of people to enter the home all at the same time, trashing it completely.  It creates an unsafe condition for employees and patrons alike.  This is something Lucky Rabbit Estate Sales will never do to your home or property.

I would also suggest that you Google any company (and the principal owners) you may consider hiring. You wouldn’t want to hire a convicted felon that did jail time for any type of crime.

Don’t be impressed by the numbers other companies throw at you! They often high ball the contents of your home only to get the contract and clean-out. At the conclusion of sale they simply say sorry and most likely blame it on you.

Lucky Rabbit Estate Sales always gives fair and honest assessments. We test, weigh and price all precious metals according to the daily spot market.  We have most diamond jewelry “retail value appraised” at no cost to you. We know a lot, but no one knows everything. We maintain excellent relationships with experts in every genre of antiques and art. With Lucky Rabbit Estate Sales you can rest assured that your valuables will not be sold for pennies on the dollar.

Read the contract! One company claims to have no up front fees and no advertising fees, however if you read the contract closely you’ll see that you’re paying for all the advertisement costs at the end of the sale. The same company has a clause that allows them to buy any left over items for $1.00. No matter the real value. That’s just wrong!
So READ THE CONTRACT!

Some companies also claim to provide free security. We have an on staff retired police officer with a carry permit that not only protects your valuables but also the proceeds of the sale. This service is provided free at our discretion.  No other company does that.

I wouldn’t advise hiring any company that doesn’t at least have a testimonial page on the website they maintain. That’s a total red flag in my opinion.  Why wouldn’t they want the praise! Word of mouth is paramount to the success of any company in this industry.  Checkable references are always a plus!  My references are readily available to all prospective clients.

Also check to see if they are associated with any professional organizations related to the estate sale field. We are members of Antiques & Collectibles National Association, Angies List, Manta and many others.

The bottom line: Do your homework!

LUCKY RABBIT HOPPED OVER TO NJ

Tom and I hopped over the GW Bridge yesterday to check out the most amazing house. It was built in the early 1900’s by the most recent original occupant.
The family was very prominent and viewed as upstanding members in the community. They also had very active social life in the art scene and hobnobbed with some of the most prominent families in Manhattan.
It was like taken a step back in time. Nothing had changed in the house since its occupancy way back when.
It was unique in that the woman who lived in the home was a secret hoarder of quality antiques and basically never threw anything away.
Tom and I were like kids in a candy store. We found all sorts of interesting items dating back to the turn of the century.
Loads of ephemera, furniture, antique grand father clocks, art work, musical instruments, lamps, light fixtures, wall sconces, china, and crystal. I could sit here all day listing the items we looked at!
All three floors are packed with antiques! It really was a picker’s dream house!

Storage Unit Tag-sale: Day Two

Wow is all I can say! We have to add 3 additional empty storage  units to this sale just to set up the 1000 or so boxes. We will have a total of seven units set up with everything from A to Z.  If you cant find what you buy, collect or resell at this sale then ill be a monkeys uncle.

The more we dig through these storage containers, the more amazed we are by the items we're finding.
I was able to snap some pictures today of only one set-up unit. Most consisting of the art work, Vintage Sansui model G-22000 amp and receiver. Asian porcelain, statues in resin, metal, cement and hand carved wood.  antique pipes,  Two American WWI Calvary swords with scabbards known as the "Patton Sword" model # 1913, both are in real good condition. professional porcelain kiln, early American Brass fireplace tool holder.
 Much more to come...

All the items at this sale came from a very wealthy household that sat on a an acre of land in Great Neck. They traveled the world, returning with treasures from everywhere. They had very up scale taste and were not afraid to spend money on quality items

We made a lot of progress in the set-up today and discovered some incredible things. We have a good mix of vintage and new items. We haven't even opened half the boxes yet but It just gets better with every box we open. I'll keep all of you posted on all our daily discoveries. I had hoped to upload pictures today but its mot ready. I will do my best to get them up tomorrow

We have 1000's of items !

Some of today's discoveries: vintage stereo equipment, vintage Asian pottery, better quality oil paintings, lots of crystal, dishes and better quality bric a brac 1000's or so mostly unopened  DVDs & CD's and VHS tapes. (mostly unopened adult DVDs ) vintage biker magazines, some small Harley Davidson parts (highway bars, air-cover, leather jackets)  Tiffany style floor lamps, clothing, (some new w/tags) handbags, wallets, coats, records.

Sunset Park Estate Sale

Tom and I had the pleasure of meeting a very nice family in Brooklyn yesterday. They have a wonderful 2 family home plus basement that is packed with 60 years of accumulation. They are the original owners of the home and one of the last holdouts in the neighborhood. It is going to be an amazing sale and a true pleasure to work with this awesome family.

On my soap box for the 4th of July!

On my soap box for the 4th of July!

By:
Paul J. Dunn
“Lucky Rabbit Estate Sales”

Can you imagine any estate-tag sale company holding sales on July 4th?
It speaks volumes to the lack of character and decorum of any company holding a sale on this day!
It also begs the question:
What kind of American would do an estate sale on a date so important to the liberty and sanctity of this wonderful country we live in?
As a veteran and patriot of this country I take great offence to such disregard for our American values.
As Americans we should all view this as an insult and slap in the face to those who gave all for our liberty and way of life.

I have in the past boycotted companies for their blatant disregard to the honor of service and lack of nationalism.

This is a time to pay respect to those who lost their lives and paid the ultimate price in the name of freedom.
Least we forget those who are maimed and scarred, mentally and physically from battle.
On this day we think about the high cost of freedom and never forget that it’s not free!

God Bless America!
